3/8in Hose to 1/2in Pipe Hose Brass Assembly
A brass hose assembly fitting connecting 3/8" hose to a 1/2" NPT pipe thread port. Used to transition between 3/8" inside diameter hose and a 1/2" NPT threaded port in compressed air, water, fuel, and general fluid transfer systems — the most common larger-to-smaller step-down connection in shop and equipment plumbing.
What's Included
- One brass hose assembly fitting — 3/8" hose barb to 1/2" NPT male pipe thread
Specifications
| Material | Brass |
| Hose end | 3/8" hose barb (for 3/8" ID hose) |
| Pipe thread end | 1/2" NPT male |
| Thread standard | NPT — National Pipe Taper |
| Compatible systems | Compressed air, water, fuel, general fluid transfer |
| SKU | 1493-6D |
Best For
- Compressed air systems — connecting 3/8" air supply hose to air compressor tank outlets, manifolds, or tool drops with 1/2" NPT ports
- Fluid transfer and pump systems — transitioning between 3/8" hose and a 1/2" NPT pump inlet or outlet port in water, coolant, or fuel transfer applications
- Plumbing and HVAC contractors — hose-to-pipe transitions are common in condensate drain, glycol, and equipment water supply work
Need 3/8" hose to 1/4" NPT instead? See the 3/8" Hose to 1/4" Pipe Brass Assembly (1493-6B).
About Hose Barb Fittings and Thread Sealant
Hose barb fittings use a tapered, ribbed barb that grips the inside of a flexible hose when the hose is pushed on and secured with a hose clamp. The barb profile bites into the hose ID as the clamp is tightened, creating a seal that holds against the system's working pressure.
The NPT pipe thread end requires thread sealant — either PTFE tape or pipe thread compound — applied to the male threads before installation. Do not over-tighten: brass fittings can crack if torqued excessively. Hand-tight plus 1–2 full turns with a wrench is standard for most NPT connections in low-to-medium pressure applications.
